"There was something black and rectangular lodged in the snow. Only the girl saw it. She bent down and picked it up and held it firmly in her fingers. The book had silver writing on it."-page 24.
I think this passage is significant because it opens a door to thievery. It gives us a hint that that stolen book won't be the last.

"The book was cool enough now to slip inside her uniform. At first, it was nice and warm against her chest. As she began waliking, though, it began to heat up again." Pg. 121
This passage is revealing because it shows how important books are in her life. She is willing to risk getting burned just for a soggy book. It shows her committment to getting as many books as possible.

"A book floated down the Amper River. A boy jumped in, caught up to it, and held it in his right hand. He grinned. He stood waist deep in the icy, Decemberish water.
'How about a kiss, Saumensch?' he said."

This passage shows how much Liesel cares about the book, and how much Rudy cares for Liesel, a book being her most important possession.
